Robert L. Pounds was registered as a Registered Public Surveyor in Texas, February of 1978, #1976. In February of 1981 he passed the Licensed State Land Surveyor and was also registered in Arizona #12712, and New Mexico #6846.
He began his surveying career surveying while enlisted in the U.S. Army after graduation from Lovington High School in 1960. He was certified as a U.S. Army Surveyor School Graduate in 1961. He served as a surveyor in Guam and Korea .
He attended the College of the Southwest in Hobbs NM from 1965 to 1967
He worked at many surveying companies, including Basil Smith Engineering Co., El. Paso TX; John West Surveying, Hobbs NM; Wilson Surveying Company, Lubbock and El Paso TX; Pounds Surveying, El Paso TX; United Field Services, Farmington, NM; Souder Miller & Associates, Farmington, NM; All Terrain Surveying Group, Weatherford, TX.
Robert served the State of Texas as a member of the Texas Board of Professional Land Surveying as an L.S.L.S. member from 1992 to 2003.
During Roberts 65 years involved in surveying, he impacted many fellow surveyors and students of surveying both as a teacher and a mentor.
He will be missed by many Surveyors, Family and Friends.
