The purpose of this study guide is to consolidate the variety of information available from other authors. Because of the unique heritage of Texas lands, a large portion of theses writings on lands in general do not apply, whole the remainder is important. The study guide points out which areas and ideas are applicable to Texas.

This text is a guide for more in depth study. It is not intended to take the place of legal counsel or provide all information that surveyors should know of the land laws of the State. It should be used as an introduction to the aspects and further study is necessary for those planning a career in surveying.
