Introduction to Texas Land Surveying (5th edition) by M.E. Spry.
FOREWORD
The purpose for compiling this book was to assemble, for convenient study, a composite volume outlining matter related to the surveying of land boundaries in Texas. The material is arranged, for this purpose, in the order generally encountered when actually making a survey of the boundaries of a tract of land; the disposition of the public domain, how land survey records should be made and are maintained, the perpetuation of land boundary lines, some laws regulating transactions, and the surveyor's responsibility to all these matters.
The subjects and their descriptions in the chapters are not new but have been gathered from many sources and placed in one volume for a handy reference. This material is introductory, and text books should be studied therewith for a complete treatment of the subjects.
Any laws mentioned or quoted herein are those found to be in effect on the date of this publication. Because laws are subject to changes or repeal, the publishers of this book do not assume responsibility for the application of any law included herein which may be changed or repealed.
My expression of thanks is extended to those whose papers or influence has made this book possible, especially to those of the General Land Office, to the Board for licensing Land Surveyors, to the Texas Surveyors Association, to participants in the Texas Surveyors Short Courses, and to others whose information influenced the writing of some parts as noted within the chapters.
