Amil was an awesome mentor for me. I worked for him for a brief time in 1980 and his influence in my life and career are with me all times. I have shared stories about how Mr. Baker came bouncing down a very rocky (cleared and blasted future road/path out at San Antonio Ranch to watch the blasting with us (Bill Wolfgang, myself and a rodman/chainman) just be with us for a while, he loved the field. I was a I-man/jr Party Chief and never forget how he showed me how I could keep all I needed with me in that bucket. I never adopted that method but, I never forget how he worked with me out at North Cliff staking out property corners. I loved spending time with him and never failed to learn. He loved being in the field and keepin' movin' was his standard. Thanks Lord for allowing me, and many others, that have been in Mr. Bakers world. Our Survey world is better becasue of him.... I always hoped to see him when I was traveling through Blanco but never did.

Amil was a mentor and inspiration to many. A tireless ambassador for TSPS and the surveying profession. He once told me he didn't see fellow surveyors as competitors but as friends that happened to enjoy the same profession. He will be missed by many.
