Gary Romatz, RPLSpassed away on Tuesday July 31, 2018 after a short bout with pancreatic cancer. Gary was an integral part of USAI for over twenty years as Vice President – Survey. He was a truly great surveyor in the field and in the office. Gary was directly responsible for hundreds of subdivisions, highway projects, apartments, and commercial sites - leaving his legacy throughout the State of Texas.
Gary Romatz was a man of integrity and service to others. He served his country in a heroic manner, paving the way for others to follow. He loved his family, teammates, and life to its fullest. He also loved and was very proud of his musical talent, as a drummer for many years, co-founding a band in his hometown of Detroit and sitting in with Ted Nugent.
Everyone that came into contact with Gary was immediately touched with his amazing spirit, personality, and caring attitude. Gary gifted his knowledge freely to all and inspired his teammates at USAI to excel at the highest level.
Gary was one of my mentors for many years, starting over 30 years ago. I owe so much to him and am grateful to have shared his friendship along the way. He will be missed but left behind many memories that we continue to share.
Thank you, Gary
I worked with Gary twenty years ago. He was certainly the kindest, most considerate, and conscientious man you could hope to work alongside. He was a great friend and colleague that tried to help anyone, including other young surveyors or the public. He will always be remembered. God speed Gary.
