David Utzman, RPLS #4607, passed away Sunday, July 29th surrounded by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Karen.
David was a member of TSPS and was a long time employee of AZ&B. A visitation for David will be held Friday, August 3, 2018 from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home, 1600 S. Garland Ave. David’s service will be at 10:00 a.m. the morning of Saturday, August 4 at First Baptist Church, Garland, 801 W Ave. D. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made payable to “FBC Garland” and noted “Eyeglass Ministry” in remembrance of David.
This was shocking news to hear of David's passing over the weekend. I knew him as a quiet and gentle man, and a very professional land surveyor. We worked together on projects, some still active. The profession has lost one of its best. Heartfelt sympathies to the family and AZB staff.
I only knew David for the last couple of years through our mutual involvement with the TBPLS Item Writers Committee. From the first moment I met him, David made a great impression on me. Always quick with a word of encouragement or a constructive comment, David made me feel welcome to the IWC and helped me gain confidence, not only as an item writer, but as a surveyor in general. The surveying community has lost another great one. David will be missed.
