Each summer, the Surveying and Mapping faculty of Tyler Junior College and the local surveying community host a residential camp to expose young students to educational and career opportunities in Land Surveying and the Geospatial Sciences. This camp is 100% underwritten by the college, Surveying Education Foundation of Texas and local companies, enabling us to offer it expense free for attendees. The camp begins with check-in late afternoon on Sunday, June 7th and will end with a catered meal on Tuesday, June 9th. Registration is required and available online at:
http://www.tjc.edu/SurveyingCamp
This event will be facilitated by the Surveying and Mapping faculty, current students and industry professionals. Topics covered will include; GPS Technology, Computer-Aided Drafting, Graphic Information Systems, 3D Laser Scanning Technology, Total Station measurements, how Texas History impacts Land Surveying and educational/career opportunities in this rapidly expanding industry.
The Surveying and Mapping program at Tyler Junior College is well respected and a leader in educating Registered Professional Land Surveyors in the State of Texas. We work closely with employers around the state and there are currently more professional job opportunities than we have graduates.
