Surveying business for sale in the heart of the Big Bend

Surveying business for sale in Alpine, the County Seat of Brewster, the largest county in Texas and home to Big Bend National Park. I have been in business for over thirty years, with record compilations starting about forty years ago. However, it is time to retire.

We have performed many private surveys and as a Licensed State Land Surveyor many surveys for the State of Texas in Brewster, Presidio, Pecos, Culberson, Jeff Davis and Reeves Counties, with extensive GLO and county research files for each one.  We have performed many large ranch surveys in the area as well as countless smaller tracts in and around the towns of Alpine, Marfa, Ft. Davis, Presidio, Marathon, Terlingua, Lajitas, Valentine, etc.  All well documented in accompanying files with research, calculations and meticulous field book notes and drawings. I have also acquired the files and field books of some of the important early surveyors in the area, with their field and office information that can be found no where else.  I truly believe that these records would be easy to use and very valuable from day one in preparing to perform surveys in the area large and small.

Almost all field work outside of town has always been referenced to the State Plane Coordinate System, dating back to the 1970's.  All original and subsequent monuments that have been located, many of which have since been destroyed, are tied to this system.  With State Plane Coordinates, these monuments could be revisited quite easily.

My equipment, however, is dated. Both field equipment, computers and software, while still quite functional and in use on a daily basis, are true museum pieces and need to be brought up to date.

I would also be more than willing to help with the transition.  I know this country well and could help with the learning curve that any surveyor new to an area would do well to seek out.

Contact Steve Walker, RPLS #4425, LSLS, Brewster County Surveyor, at 432-837-7272 or sfwalker4425@att.net. If you get my answering machine, leave a message and I will get back to you.
