In early October TSPS GIS committee conducted a informational poll of it's members on their views about GIS. In general members believe that the use of GIS is important to their organization.
Firms generally produce a small amount of GIS data or services on a weekly basis, but see GIS as being more important to their future. Members believe that TSPS should take an active role in getting more involved with other geospatial groups that use GIS when it comes to data sharing, coordination, and standards. One surprise that surfaced from the poll was that many members are only somewhat familiarity with the TSPS Category 10 Survey specifications for GIS/LIS products and services. This informal poll was taken over one month period had it had 188 respondents. The entire results from the poll can be downloaded from the following link.
