Wilmer "Bill" Duderstadt from San Antonio went home to be with Jesus on January 7, 2016 following a stroke on January 2. He was 95 years old.
Wilmer was born January 22, 1920 in Nordheim, Texas and grew up in various places in De Witt county. Having been raised on a farm, Wilmer always had cattle, even up to the end. Moving to San Antonio around 1930, Wilmer graduated from Hot Wells High School and married Peggy Dornberger in 1948. Three children were born of this marriage: Jane (1950-2015), James (1951), and Paul (1954). Wilmer's passion was Brahman cattle. He was a director of the American Brahman Breeders Association and the South Texas Brahman Association. In appreciation for his long dedication and service to the Brahman breed, the Brahman division of the 2009 Houston International Stock Show was dedicated in his honor. Besides raising cattle, Wilmer started Optical Instrument Repair Company in 1948 which later became Duderstadt Surveyors Supply Company.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years Peggy, his sons James and Paul, three grandchildren Michael, Sarah, and Hannah. He is proceeded in death by his parents: Louis and Myrtle, his sisters and brother Mina Mae, Hazel, Mary, and Warren, and his daughter Jane.
Viewing was held Monday the 11th at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South, San Antonio. The funeral will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South (1700 South East Military Drive, San Antonio, TX US 78214).
