"CRS has been around since 1995 ... it was a part-time job I had," Ortiz said. It was put on hold as Ortiz moved into other ventures.

"Lone Star and I decided to go our separate ways. But because CRS had a great name around town I decided to reopen it in April," he said.

CRS is a research company, with right-of-way and acquisition services, he said. Though based in Dallas, the company operates around the state and beyond.

"There are 254 counties, and I've worked in probably 200 of them," he said. "We cover the entire State of Texas, and our documents are pretty much nationwide

CRS is currently working with the Regional Water Control District in Tarrant County on a 150-mile water pipeline, and it will also soon be working with the Corps of Engineers on the Texas-Mexico border, in the Hildago and Cameron county areas.

Ortiz now serves as a 2-year Director with TSPS Dallas Chapter 5, and he also serves at the state level as TSPS North Area Chapter Representative. Other outside pursuits include involvement with the 2010 TSPS Educators Retreat, held last month at Northlake College, and the SkillsUSA program.
