Speaker Development

The objective of the Speaker Development Program is to create and develop a pool of qualified instructors that are trained and experienced in providing a quality education experience. This program also provides a resource for professionals that are interested in improving their communication skills. After successful completion of the speaker development program, speakers are entered into the TSPS Speaker Pool.

To become a registered presenter, the Education Committee must approve the candidate’s education, qualifications and experience. Only those professionals with qualified relevant experience and demonstrated communication skills will be approved to present TSPS courses.

Speaker Training

As part of the training and development process, certain communication courses should be completed. TSPS education committee will suggest or approve courses that cover a variety of topics related to adult training, education and communication. TSPS will develop seminars designed toward developing speaking and training skills. Examples of such courses are:

  • Communication 101 - Recognizing and understanding various communications styles.

  • Public Speaking - Learning to speak before large groups.( Toastmasters, community college courses)

  • Learning and Instruction - Fundamentals of instruction, adult education, use of handouts and visual aids.

Application

To be accepted in the TSPS Speaker Pool, the candidate must submit an application to the TSPS office. The applicant will be evaluated on his or her communication style, professional experience and expertise. The Education Committee will review all applications. Upon successful review and approval, the candidate will become part of the pool of speakers that are available to present TSPS sponsored seminars. (See Speaker Pool Application Form) One of the goals for the speaker development program is providing learning opportunities for our members who are interested in developing their communication skills. All applicants will be accepted to the speaker pool.

Peer Review

An important component of speaker development is feedback and review. Course evaluations will be reviewed by the Education Committee to insure that each registered speaker is providing a quality education experience.
