In 2019, the Texas Board of Professional Land Surveying (TBPLS) is up for Sunset Review. Through Sunset, the Legislature looks closely at the need for and performance of state agencies.TheTexas SunsetAdvisory Commission is a 12-member legislative commission tasked with identifying and eliminating waste, duplication, and inefficiency for more than 130Texasstate agencies with 20-30 going through the Sunset process every two years.
TBPLS has already begun the process by submitting a self-evaluation to the commission staff on September 1, 2017.The TSPS Governmental Affairs and SurPAC Committees will be assisting TBPLS as they go through the Sunset process. The committees will also be preparing for the 86th Legislative Session and closely monitoring legislative activities.
SurPAC donations are still in continuous need in an effort to protect the public and our profession. As a respected and valued member, we are asking for your participation by making a personal donation to SurPAC. The success of the issues addressed by the Governmental Affairs Committee when the Legislature is in session depends on our elected State officials. We are not a large profession and it is essential that we be proactive by meeting and getting to know our elected officials and by attending their fundraisers and making contributions.
Please help SurPAC to continue to promote and protect the surveying profession. Only personal checks and credit cards can be accepted, i.e. no company checks or credit cards.
