COURSE DESCRIPTION

This seminar will familiarize the professional surveyor with the legal aspects of GPS surveying. The course provides an introduction to GPS methods as well as review and discussion of how GPS meets the professional and technical standards, legal responsibility of the surveyor using GPS, and solutions used in practice. The course will provide information concerning the use of GPS in following footsteps, dignity of calls, senior/junior rights and seeking the best evidence. Other laws and rules in that State of Texas concerning GPS will be provided. Examples of property location determination utilizing GPS will be discussed.

Attendees will earn 8 CEUs as approved by the TBPLS by attending this seminar in its entirety.

A full refund will be made if faxed or written notice is received at least 72 hours prior to the seminar. Telephone cancellations will not be accepted. TSPS reserves the right to cancel a seminar if attendance does not meet a minimum number of attendees.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
DR. STACEY LYLE - Dr. Lyle is an Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University –Corpus Christi in the computing and Mathematical Sciences Geographic Information Science program. He teaches Geographic Information Systems, Geomatics and Hydrographic Surveying. He is a registered Professional Surveyor in the state of Georgia. His hydrographic experience includes working for John E. Chance (Wimpol) and Texas A&M University’s National Science Foundation Ocean Drilling Program. Dr. Lyle is an honorary fellow with NASA where Dr. Lyle works at Stennis Space Center developing new surveying and mapping science. He is a member of the Institute of Navigation, American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, Surveying and Mapping Society of Georgia, and the Texas Society of Professional Surveyors. Dr. Lyle’s research interest is in Gulf of Mexico GIS databases, Automated Hydrographic Boats, Real-time Aerial Photogrammetry Systems, and eRTK-GPS networks. He holds a BS in Civil Engineering Technology Surveying, MS in Computers Science and PhD in Geography.
