COMMITTEE ACTIVITY REPORT
2004 Strategic Planning
Goals:
GOAL: Each BOD member is
responsible to nominate at least one award recipient
–
We didn’t quite achieve
this goal, although some BOD members did submit nominations.
GOAL: Create chapter program on awards – I am unsure of the status
of this and may need to revisit for clarification on the intent.
Suggest that Chapter Past Presidents might become key
individual responsible for
Award nominations.-
The new
“Chapter Presidents” category on the TSPS website forum will be a good
place to get input on this.
Publicize that repeat winners is ok- Done
The committee has mixed
feelings about this year’s accomplishment. While we did receive
nominations for each of the awards, we were still disappointed with the
lack of response and hope to do a better job in the future.
The Chapter President of
the Year will not be awarded this year.
The committee has
suggested a slight modification to the Awards Nomination form that will
help future committee members verify whether a nomination is from an
individual or a chapter, and the chapter member responsible for submitting
the nomination.
The recipients of all the
awards have been chosen and notified. Presenters have been selected for
the Awards Gala at convention.
The committee would like
to thank all those who submitted nominations and congratulate all those
who were chosen to receive awards.
It has been my pleasure
to serve as committee chairman and I wish to thank my fellow members Paul
Kwan and Michael Parker for their support and guidance.

COMMITTEE: Past President’s
Committee CHAIRMAN REPORTING: Michael Haberer
COMMITTEE ACTIVITY REPORT
The Past President’s
Committee is a relatively new committee setup as a forum between the past
presidents and the executive committee. The committee currently meets on
the same weekend as the quarterly meetings, usually on Friday evening. The
meeting at the convention will be the Past President’s dinner. A meeting
was held at each quarterly meeting this year. Some meetings were better
attended than others.
Always there was a good
exchange of ideas.
The following dates are
recommended for meetings in the coming year.
February: Friday night
before Board Meeting.
June: Friday night before
Board Meeting.
August: Participate in
strategic planning session with no separate meeting.
October: The Past
President’s dinner will serve as the meeting.
Respectfully submitted

YEAR END COMMITTEE ACTIVITY REPORT
The committee has met
twice since the last board meeting. We have ordered more of the new “Golf
Shirts” with the letters TSPS only on the pocket. We still have a
sufficient amount of the long and short sleeve white twill shirts and the
long and short sleeve denim shirts to carry us through the annual meeting.
We also will be bringing the updated version of Ken Gold’s book
“Decisions” which are in printing at the date of this report. We are again
fully stocked on our short course books as we have had a lot of inquiries
for. We have a sufficient amount of our historical books, such as One
League to Each Wind, Three Dollars Per Mile and Texas Was His Land. We
have ordered more TSPS lapel pins. Last, we have ordered new low profile
and high profile caps with our logo. We will be offering any 50th
anniversary logo items we have left to persons who make purchases, with
the exception of the fleece vest. I am looking forward to another good
year in sales and hope to get new ideas for other items we could sell.
Sales to this date is
$12,676.23

Reporting: Lynn R. Savory
It has been a reasonably
quiet year, and pretty much on target for budget. The “Special Issue” of
the magazine went out early in September to non-member RPLS’s and SIT’s in
an attempt to increase interest in membership. The issue was filled with
items of interest ranging from an explanation of benefits and organization
history, to targeted appeals aimed at specific groups within our
profession. The mailing list, broken down by zip code and Chapter, is
being sent to Mary and Curtis for follow-up phone calls. Should any of
the Board members want a copy of this issue, contact Doug. If we run out
of printed copies, a pdf file can be arranged.
This is also the time of
year we send out for printing bids on the publications. Doug has been
inundated with printers wanting our business. The current printer is
Branch-Smith in Fort Worth. Bids go out shortly after the November issue
is printed.
While gathering input for
the “membership issue”, we gathered a nice surplus of articles for use in
future magazines. Several of those used in the special issue would
be of interest to the general membership and may be utilized in the
future.
Respectfully submitted,
