CHAPTER ACTIVITIES
Our last Chapter
Presidents Forum was well attended and several topics were discussed. One
topic of interest that has been discussed many times over was the
declining numbers of registered surveyors throughout the state. Mr. Joe
Webber suggested that all surveyors need to be involved in recruiting. It
was suggested that we get more surveyors into the elementary and high
schools with simple presentations giving them an idea of what we do and
who we are. Many surveyors across the state are already involved with
their local schools in one way or another. A committee was created out of
this discussion to help surveyors that are not active in their local
school systems. The committee was charged with gathering resources such
as videos, talking points, topics, power point presentations, etc. from
experienced surveyors that have had success in the past when dealing with
school presentations. Our goal is to gather this information and compile
it in the form of a cd, dvd or even as a link on the TSPS Website for all
to use. This is where we need your help. We are calling on all surveyors
that have presented topics to students in the past to get with us and
share your resources and experiences. This may be done in several ways.
A topic, in which you can reply, has been generated on the TSPS Forum
under Chapter Presidents - Surveying Recruitment, or you can email me at
curtis@strongsurveying.com.
We also have some
additional business to attend to at the Quarterly Board Meeting. Included
in this report, you will find two (2) letters from chapters requesting
realignment. Chapter 2 is requesting that Wise County be removed from
Chapter 7 and placed into Chapter 2 (CLICK
HERE). Also, Chapter 12 is requesting that Aransas County be removed
from Chapter 14 and placed into Chapter 12 (CLICK
HERE).
As Chairman of the
Chapter Activities, I respectfully submit to you these requests for Board
approval.
As always, I welcome any
thoughts or ideas that I may incorporate to help the chapters to become
stronger and more active.
Sincerely,
Curtis Strong
