COMMITTEE ACTIVITY REPORT

For this quarterly board meeting I will report on the Tyler Junior College and University of Texas at Tyler surveying and mapping programs.

The Tyler Junior College Surveying and Mapping Program has a healthy enrollment at this time.  The program seems to have picked up a little steam since the 4 year requirement has taken full effect.  Most of the of the students are enrolling out of high school but an increasing number of students are entering the program already with a bachelors degree in some other field and are looking to get the required 32 hours of surveying related courses.  The fall semester enrollment included 32 freshmen and 25 sophomores for a total enrollment of 57 surveying students.

The Tyler Junior College Surveying and Mapping Program is headed up by Patti Williams , RPLS No. 4071.  Part time instructors last fall included Rick McCrary , RPLS No. 5384 and Shane Neally, RPLS No. 5385.  This spring Tyler Junior College will add a new full time instructor for the surveying program, Mr. Ron Waldrip, RPLS No. 4548.

For information on the TJC surveying program call Patti at 903-510-2365.

The University of Texas at Tyler Surveying and Mapping is also presently in a health state and looking at the Tyler Junior College enrollment should have a bright future.  Last fall the enrollment was 22 students.

The instructors for the UT Tyler surveying courses are Mr. Ray Vannoy, LSLS, RPLS No. 1988 and Mr. Terry Cowan, RPLS No. 4139.

For information on the University of Texas at Tyler surveying program call Dr. Sheldon Dunham at 903-566-7336.
