Committee Tasks:

·         Work with Standards Committee to establish guidelines for use of GPS in GIS Projects.  To include a checklist that could be used by Client & Provider to determine the scope of the work, deliverables, procedures and anticipated levels of accuracy.

·         Continue development of GIS curriculum for use by Education Committee

·         Continue to monitor the relationship between GIS and Surveying industries

·         Work with TBPLS after legislative session to create and adopt Rules for inclusion and exclusions

This committee will work to accomplish the following specific tasks:

• Work with the Standards Committee & this board to finalize the GIS category to be included in the TSPS Manual of Practice. 

• Complete the revisions for the GIS 101 course in time for the 2005 symposium to be held in Tyler .

• Develop a second GIS course this year entitled GIS Development.

 On December 8, the TBPLS approved a revised version of a GIS Survey & GIS Products Statement.  This statement has been posted on their website.  www.txls.state.tx.us/sect05/word_news/survey_gis_products.rtf

A committee meeting is planned for February 5 from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
