CHAPTER ACTIVITY REPORT
CENTRAL EAST TEXAS CHAPTER 8

Our Chapter has continued to meet on the first Thursday of each month (@ Golden Corral in Lufkin) since the annual meeting in October. In November we had a business meeting. The main topics were the reports and discussion of the annual meeting in San Antonio, our para-professional program, sending para-professionals to the spring 05 symposium, and discussing the annual short course. Minutes from this meeting are attached. In December we had our Christmas Dinner meeting (@ Ralph & Kacoo’s in Lufkin) - Ladies Night. Henry Kuehlem, T.S.P.S. president, was our speaker. Minutes from this meeting are attached. In January we had a business meeting. The main topics were discussing items on the upcoming quarterly board meeting, items that were planned on being discussed at the education committee meeting, Angelina county’s subdivision ordinance, the new agreement between Angelina college and Stephen F. Austin University, and new surveyors insurance by Don Canada. Minutes from this meeting are not attached.
Next meeting will be February 3, 2005.

DINNER
MEETING OF DECEMBER 2, 2004
The December 2, 2004 meeting of Chapter 8 of the Texas Society of Professional Surveyors was held at Ralph & Kacoo’s in Lufkin.
ITEMS OF BUSINESS:
Mike Parker introduced State President Henry Kuehlem after dinner. Many thanks to Henry for his report of items to be addressed during his tenure. Chapter 8 raised $316.00 for Surpac.
We appreciate all the ladies for coming out and bringing their husbands!

MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF NOVEMBER 4, 2004
The November 4, 2004 meeting of Chapter 8 of the Texas Society of Professional Surveyors was held at Golden Corral in Lufkin. The business meeting was called to order at 7:35 P.M. by President Mike Parker.
ITEMS OF BUSINESS:
Old Business
1. Motion to accept the September minutes, second, passed with the correction of the October meeting being on the 4th not the 2nd.
2. Para-Professional class postponed until the January ‘05 meeting. At that time we will begin holding the class by-monthly at 6:30 P.M..
3. Discuss paying for our Para-Professionals to attend courses at symposium. More discussion later about how much we will pay.
4. Board meeting.
A. Shannon is gone and Liz Lathan has taken her place at the TSPS office. Shannon will work part time.
B. Surpac needs money.
C. TSPS in going to Legislature with a bill to put TBPLS under the GLO.
D. Watch for bill about collecting sales tax. This is not dead.
E. Surveyors week - second week of March.
F. Doubled trigstar prizes.
New Business
1. Basic short course. Should TSPS revise & control or let the Chapters?
2. What about the Advanced short course?
3. CEU’s. Should TSPS provide material & advertising for fee? Need input.
State President Henry Kuehlem will be at the December meeting. Please attend.
