CHAPTER ACTIVITY REPORT
(Central Area)
Chapter 3 - Central Texas Chapter (Pres. – Michael Evans)
Meeting bi-monthly, last meeting (March), held at the Elite Café on the Historic Waco Traffic Circle in Waco, TX. A general business meeting was held followed by a presentation of “Surveying Texas Land at the GLO” by Mr. C. B. “Ben” Thomson, Chief Surveyor of the Texas General Land Office. Discussion included daily issues incurred surveying and managing the Texas Public Domain and Natural Resources Next meeting planned for (June), agenda to be announced.
Chapter 13 - Capital Area Chapter (Pres. – Paul Easley)
Meeting monthly, last meeting (June), annual chapter picnic was held at Zilker Park Rock Garden, everyone enjoyed BBQ and fellowship, donations collected went to SURPAC. Next meeting planned for (July), to be held at Gruene River Grill in New Braunfels, Tx. Joint dinner meeting with the San Antonio Chapter. Cliff middleton with U.S.G.S. will be the guest speaker.
Chapter 15 – Hill Country Chapter (Former Pres. - Gary M. Brandenburg)
This chapter has been “inactive”. Any member in this area who would like to see this Chapter “revived” is asked to contact me so we can work on making this Chapter “active”.
Chapter 20 - Brazos Valley Chapter (Pres. – Gene Woods)
Meeting bi-monthly, last meeting (April) started with dinner at C & J Barbeque in Bryan, TX. After dinner the group met at the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History to view the Texas Ranger and Comanche exhibit as well as others. This was a private event for Chapter 20, which had free run of the entire museum. Next meeting planned for (July), to be held at The Junction restaurant in Huntsville, Tx. Dinner meeting to include Chapter President Gene Woods giving a presentation on the Mapping Control Network of the City of Huntsville.
Chapter 21 - Heart of Texas Chapter (Pres. – Dale Bergman)
Meeting bi-monthly, last meeting (March), was held at the Coffee Cup Café in Hico. The guest speaker was Michael Hefer, owner of Western Data Systems. He delivered a presentation on the Texas Cooperative RTK Network Lynn Savory updated everyone on Trig Star and Garnell Baker presented information related to Surveyor registration. The May 8, meeting was cancelled due to a scheduling conflict with the speaker. Next meeting planned for (June), annual picnic to be held at the Leatherwood Ranch in Stephenville, TX.
