CHAPTER ACTIVITY REPORT

In this “Chapter Activity Report”, I am submitting a list of all of the recent
activities of this chapter.
Chapter Board Meeting – February 10, 2004
A quorum was determined and a two hour meeting was had to discuss the
affairs of the chapter.
Chapter Dinner Meeting – March 9, 2004
CBI Systems, Ltd. demonstrated their ptbase Survey Software
Package that was showcased in the January issue of Professional Surveyor
Magazine. Toby Davis, Rick Masters and Kevin Springfield were the presenters
Mr. Hassan Moghaddam with San Jacinto College South enlightened us on the Free
Survey Camp he has planned this summer for High School students.
TSPS State Director Michael Parker took time from his busy schedule and paid a
visit to Chapter 9 to discuss the upcoming Spring Symposium.

May 11, 2004
John Blount with the Harris County Flood Control
District spoke about the new FIRMs, the TSARP Database and the use of regulatory
FIRM's during the transition period between the current FIRMs (1929 Datum w/
1973 adjustment, or in the case of Brays Bayou, 1987 adjustment) and the new
FIRMs (1988 Datum w/ 2000 adjustment or what some call the 2001 adjustment). Mr.
Blount is a member of the TSARP team since its creation and has much to
contribute to our understanding of the new database.
Mr. J.T. Byrne, Vice-President of Western Data Systems discussed the latest
innovations concerning Trimble’s Texas RTK Network. He also touched on Trimble’s
R7 and R8 series of receivers.
Mr. Lance Liccketto, principal owner of Surveyors Instruments Company and Mr.
Kim Barta, Topcon’s Central Regional Manager explained Topcon’s Hyper +, Hyper
Lite + and Hyper Lite series of GPS equipment and their latest development, the
millimeter GPS system.
Mr. Jeffery Ryall of Cornerstone Measurement Systems discussed Leica’s new 1200
series of GPS receivers. He also shared information concerning the
Cornerstone-Houston RTK network.
Bob Towery, Chief City Surveyor presented updated information about the new City
of Houston Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) and made an
announcement about future P.S.E.F.I. sponsored seminar events.
