CHAPTER ACTIVITY REPORT
May 11, 2004:
We had a chapter meeting at Sudduth Surveying in San Angelo. Glyn Sudduth and his crew prepared a delicious BBQ Brisket and sausage buffet for the occasion. I would like to extend my thanks to them for a job well done. We had 16 in attendance.
TSPS President, Michael Haberer, made the trip and talked with us about the importance of volunteerism within TSPS. This volunteerism is the catalyst that made the success of the first Spring Symposium such a huge success. Mike had nothing but praise for those that spent countless hours preparing the courses and getting ready for the presentations. He also asked the members to remember SURPAC.
Mark Hanna also came to our meeting and gave us a legislative update. He warned us that just because we won round 1, not to get comfortable. It appears that the Legislature and the Governor are still looking at consolidation issues. We need to keep a keen eye in that arena. Mark also talked about the new tax collecting and record keeping we are being faced with beginning July 1. He has scheduled a meeting with the authorities to present written questions for which we need answers. He hopes to have a report on this subject at the June Board Meeting.
Everyone was invited to attend the June Board meeting and annual picnic. We discussed ideas for donation items for the picnic.
A collection was taken up for SURPAC. We came up with $196 plus a previous donation of $75.
Respectfully submitted,
Gary D. Hudson, RPLS
Chapter President
