Committee: Governmental
Affairs Comm. Chairman: Pat Smith
This committee has had no
activity related to legislative affairs since the last board meeting.
Mark Hanna and I are
investigating what TSPS can do for the subdivision platting issue in
Cherokee County as brought before the board by Chapter 4. To date we have
met with the legal counsel for the Texas Association of Counties as the
first step in pursuing a non-controversial solution to the problem. Texas
Association of Counties will be looking into the matter from their
perspective and Mark and I will be discussing the issue with the
legislators from that area. I view this as the first steps prior to
actually meeting with the Cherokee County Attorney.

Unfortunately, I was unable to attend neither the last Chapter Presidents
Forum nor the board meeting. I was told that the meeting went well. We
will remain focused on our Strategic Planning directives. Some of the
chapters appear to be very busy working on these goals and are coming up
with good ideas. I applaud those chapters and ask that they keep up the
good work.
Hopefully all of the
Chapter Presidents will attend the Strategic Planning session. This is a
very important session for each Chapter President, as it sets our course
for the upcoming year.
As always, I encourage
all Chapter Presidents to bring a new member or guest to the Presidents
Forum. It is especially important to bring your vice-president and get
them involved before their term begins.
I thank the Chapter
Presidents for their hard work throughout the year. As always, I welcome
any thoughts or ideas that I may incorporate to help the chapters to
become stronger and more active.
Sincerely,
Curtis Strong
